Feb 21 2015 LAKESIDE INDUSTRIES & SEVEN CEDARS ELIMINATOR RESULTS

Fifty-four bowlers showed up at Laurel Lanes for our seventeenth annual eliminator on February 21st. This was the largest turnout since we have held the eliminator at Laurel Lanes. The open was sponsored by LAKESIDE INDUSTRIES and the 205 and under was sponsored by SEVEN CEDARS CASINO.

This tournament offers a little different format from our other singles events as the field is cut in half after the five games of qualifying. Two more games are then bowled and the field is again cut in half and two more games are bowled. This is done until we have the top six for the TV finals.

After the qualifying round Tim Clemens was the leader in the open division. He shot games of 213-213-220-192-254 for 1092. The top sixteen advanced to the next round. Low to make that cut was 942. After the next two games Dean Richards was the leader. He shot games of 243.-243 for 486. Low to make the top eight was 399.

Two more games were then bowled and the top six advanced to the TV finals. Jimmie Dillingham took over the lead by shooting games of 214-256 for 470. Behind him were Dean Richards 440, Nick Bachteler 423, Schott Schimming 376, Brian Irwin 371 and in sixth Tim Clemens 366.

The first match of the TV finals was a three-person shootout with the highest score advancing to the next games. The first match Scott defeated Tim and Brian 181-179-173. He then bowled Nick who won 219-167. The next match Dean beat Nick 225-197 and he went on to earn his fourth KSBO title by defeating Jimmie 193-144 in the title match. Congratulations Dean.

In the under eliminator junior bowler Zack Cox was the leader after the qualifying round. He shot games of 164-207-246-195-153 for 965. Low to make the top eleven was 822. Newcomer Lucas Robinson moved into the lead after the two games by shooting 257-225 for 482. Behind him were Jessica Sutton 476, Zack Cox 391, Larry Dodd 366, Steve Layton 362, and in sixth Andrew Kashuba 360.

The first match of the TV finals Steve defeated Larry and Andrew 209-175-163. He then beat Zack 136-131. Jessica then beat Steve 162-147. She then went on to earn her first under title by defeating Lucas 173-125. Congratulations. Jessica.

The high game out of the money is actually a high series out of the money and goes to the bowler that has the highest series that makes the first cut and does not cash. Mike VanWinkle shot 993 in the open division and Brian Cutler shot 877 in the under division. They each receive a free entry into their next singles tournament.

The KSBO would like to thank George Peabody from Lakeside Industries and Jerry Allen from Seven Cedars Casino for their continued support of our tournaments. We really appreciate their involvement with our organization and look forward to having them back again next year.

The next tournament is the ALL STAR LANES/GREY CHEVROLET SWISS TRIOS on MARCH 7-8 at All Star Lanes. The cap is 624 for this tournament. What makes this tournament special is that everyone bowls six games each day earning points for beating your opponent. The team with the most points at the end of the twelfth game wins the tournament. The cost is $80 for members and $90 for guests. Check in will start at 10:30 with the first game beginning at Noon on Saturday. On Sunday we will start at 10:00 AM. I don’t have very many entries yet but have heard lots of people talking. You can email me at moc.elbacevaw|ffoea#moc.elbacevaw|ffoea your team or call me at 373-3771 with your bowlers.

The other exciting thing about this tournament is all of the side action. We have senior and under sweepers for a one time entry for $10 (for all 12 games). We also have a high series pot for a one time entry for $20 (for 12 games). We will be having a ball raffle (donated by Brunswick). And last but not least lots of brackets each day. It is a great tournament and a lot of fun to bowl. So I hope everyone plans on being at All Star Lanes on March 7th for our twenty-eighth annual SWISS Trios tournament.

There are still several bowlers that need to have a tournament at All Star to be eligible for the finals. They are: OPEN – Cox, Hipp, Moen, Schimming, and Townsend, UNDER – Carson, C. Dodd, Greenwalt, Kashuba, and Schroeder

If you are unable to bowl the SWISS you can still pay for your spot and that would count. Our rule this year is that you pay the entry less the lineage. You would need to let me know prior to the start of the tournament this is what you are doing to make it count.

There are only two regular tournaments left after the SWISS to bowl before the finals. Make sure to check the list at the tournament and on our website ksbo.wikidot.com so that you will not miss out on the finals.
