Designs Unlimited Open & Miller Chiropractic Under - Mar 21, 2015

We had fifty bowlers show up at Hi-Joy Bowl for the DESIGNS UNLIMITED OPEN on March 21st. The 205 and under was sponsored by MILLER CHIROPRACTIC.

After the qualifying round Warren Cox was the leader in the open division. He shot games of 265-191-184-223-161 for 1024. Low to qualify was 941 and low to cash was 936.

Tim Clemens moved into the lead after the semi-finals. He shot games of 194-214-276 winning all of them for an additional 90 bonus points. All of these added to his 1015 qualifying score gave him a total of 1975. Behind him was Nick Bachteler 1668 (60), Warren Cox 1616 (30), Mike Hansen 1584 (30), and in fifth, Spencer Ludwig 1581 (60).

In the first match of the TV finals Mike outlasted Spencer 187-175. That was all he needed as he defeated Warren 242-218, Nick 234-229, and Tim 212-168 to earn his sixteenth KSBO title. He now sits fourth all time behind Lonnie Sharkey, Steve Force and Gary Heilman in titles won. Congratulations Mike.

In the under division Craig Wilkey was the leader after the qualifying round. He shot games of 198-173-198-235-188 for 992. Low to qualify and cash was 880.

Aaron Kielbasa took over the lead after the three games of semi- finals. He shot 185-209-202 winning all of them. This added to his qualifying score of 943 gave him a total of 1629. Behind him was Mike Green 1586 (90), Craig Wilkey 1541 (30), Robert Ellis 1504 (60), and in fifth, Preston Carson 1500 (30).

In the first game of the TV finals Preston defeated Robert 159-149. Craig then took care of Preston 211-126. The next two matches belonged to Mike as he beat Craig 243-168 and Aaron 215-172 to earn his first under singles title. Congrats Mike. Today it was the Mike and Mike show. One interesting stat I noticed is that they both qualified in the seventh position in their divisions before climbing the ladder to victory.

The high game out of the money in the open division was a 225 by Mike VanWinkle and a 208 by Mike Miller in the under division. They each receive a free entry into their next singles tournament.

The KSBO would like to thank Chuck and Diana Linne from Designs for sponsoring this tournament. They have been involved with our organization for twenty years now. We would also like to thank Eric Miller from Miller Chiropractic for sponsoring for the ninth time. It is greatly appreciated and we look forward to having both of you back again next season.

Our last regular tournament of the season is the Non-Champs/Champs event sponsored by DON HOLTZ, REALTOR and TALBOT EXCAVATING. It will be held at All Star Lanes on April 11th. This is actually two tournaments in one. If you do not have an individual open singles title then you may bowl the non-champions event. The champions will bowl their own tournament at the same time. So at the end of the day we will crown a new champion and award a title to a current champ. But that is not the end. There is one more match between the two champs to see who the KING OF THE HILL is. The King of the Hill is a special award donated by Evergreen Trophies. This is the thirtieth time that we have held this tournament.

Check in will start at 10:30 with the tournament starting at Noon. The cost for this tournament is $75 for all members and $85 for all guests. If you are bowling the champions event you need to let me know (373-3771) if it is prior to the April 7th. After that please contact Jeremy Ellis (649-8522) as I will not be at this tournament. The lane condition for this tournament will be a modified house condition. Not the condition that was previously reported.

Below is the list of bowlers who need this tournament to be eligible for the finals:
